Thiruvalluvar Transport Corporation started with 276 buses at the beginning and now renamed as State Express Transport Corporation Ltd. having around 903 buses as on
The SETC has depots at Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchi, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Kumbakonam, Tuticorin, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Salem, Bangalore and Tirupathi.
SETC provides advance booking centers and reservation counters on all of its routes. Currently online(internet) reservation facility is also available . Reservations can be made at the counters in important bus stations in Tamil Nadu, including the CMBT Bus Terminus in Chennai.
